And it's this time of the year again, I promise to make you smile if you tag along. The year was again very exciting and tumultuous, what's life without problems...??? We had an exciting year to say the least, if you have been following my blog you probably know all or most of the events, but let me recall the most exciting ones that still stick to my mind.PS there is less and less than I can recall...sign of old age unfortunately, thus the purpose of this blog thingy
The cook left us somewhere in April since he has gone Tiger style on the neighbor's wife, the only difference between him and Tiger is that he is broke has no talent. So Pinpin has been working 7 days a week since then, nonstop, no pause, no vacation, no relief...euhhhh not true, many thanks to Wendy, Valerie and the gang for taking over for one day in the week end, it was nonetheless stressful for Wendy but uneventful after all, so Pinpin got to sleep in till 10.00am that day, she needed the rest. Let's say that it's been tough this year on the HR side at the Café, Aside from working, Pinpin has done nothing else, sad to say but it's a fact.
But we have slightly different plans for her as from next year, well first of all, we are closing down for 2 weeks in January, finally got her convinced and there's more to come..
Caro, well just the teenager growing, not a single day without argument in the house, she got her Temporary driving license and after a couple of drives in my old truck, she started telling me..."Yes I know, stop repeating it!!" So I shut my mouth and let her do her thing, if Pinpin is in the car with us, the atmosphere becomes so loaded with static electricity that Peenot's hair stand straight up on ends.
And we went to Open houses for Cegeps with Caro, and that's when I realised that our little girl is not surrounded by little boys anymore, but with little MEN with eyes staring at her, at first I thought they were staring at my wife or at me??? So male friends are becoming predominant..suddenly.
Peenot is getting to be more mischievous, new friends show up at our door, the latest one is called Ruby and it's a she...haaaa yes I got boys showing up for my daughter and Gals for my son.Ruby would show up and scratch the door every single day, but Peenot does not seem to like her, she's either too big for him to climb on or too black, we wondered at one point whether Peenot is not racist... His latest gig is that when he comes back from outdoors, he would run upstairs into our bathroom and spin around waiting for us to grab the hair dryer and dry him out, since he has been out in the wet snow..snobby.
As for me, work, work, real work for once, the recession did not really affect us, if anything, we have inherited what our competitors have lost. Also spent lots of time at St-Remi, Ton Jean has finally put his hands on "the dream spot", 95 acres and + to hunt and exploit, wonderful scenic place to be, all we are missing is a few foodplots, a pond, a sugar shack to process maple syrup and a few deer to hang on the meat post. We have to admit that the harvest was bleak, but we had quite a few laughs, excitement and camaraderie in the camp. I seriously spent some good time with the Wan's brothers, it was the Wan's revival, Wan's reunion or whatever you want to call it.. Oh and I forgot to mention that Uncle Phil, who has recently joined the Canadian gang definitely know his way around the deer species, I can bet anything he will be hunting with us next year.
I can tell you one thing, food is not an issue at camp, anytime you want to drop by, be welcome and don't bring ANY food, all you can bring is a good bottle of Brandy, I can guarantee you it won't stay full for too long..
I also spent some good $$ on a dirt bike, midlife crisis some would say, rode it a few times then winter arrived, so it's now sitting in the garage, at one point, I started second guessing whether I am not too old for that kind of excitement..not.
I sincerely believe that next year will be better, how can it not be ? It's the year of the Tiger! My year, nothing to do with Mr Woods,
So after all , we are all still in good shape, regardless of all the cons, our thoughts to you all, keep well and give us a shout if you feel like it or drop by for tea, as usual , if we are not home, we're at the Café.
Mejores deseos y Feliz ano nuevo, Que dios los bendiga from the Wan's in the Boonies.
